Uniclass Enterprise IT solution ordered by Wealden District Council to support their £4M waste services operation
3 October 2006, News release from ROCC Computers Ltd
The waste management function at Wealden District Council accounts for an income in excess of £4,000,000 per annum. The Uniclass IT solution from ROCC has supported Wealden in the delivery of these waste services since 1992.
Replacing the aging system with the new browser based Uniclass Waste Management (UWM) system will increase functionality, improve internal efficiencies, assist with the provision of an improved service to the public and enable Wealden to meet e-government targets.
UWM will increase efficiency through the reduction of manual data input and improved sharing of knowledge within the department. This is to be achieved through the greatly enhanced search capability within UWM, easier access to essential waste management data for personnel via Wealden's Intranet and the ability to access data from remote locations using GPRS links.
The order for a 40 user system includes services, such as project management, technical consultancy, data loading, hardware configuration and training, and consists of a number of modules:
ROCC will provide an improved reporting function using Crystal Reports. The system will interface with other core systems at Wealden including SIA Datamap (GIS), Docuware (Document Management), Radius Powersolve (Corporate Financial System), LLPG (Property Gazetteer) and Precia Molen (Weighbridge tickets).
ROCC will also be supplying the server hardware and software (Windows 2003 Server and SQL Server 2003).
UWM is a technically advanced software solution designed by ROCC, in partnership with UK Local Authorities to support and streamline the administration of Waste Management, Refuse, Recycling and Cleaning services to domestic and trade customers and for public areas.
Developed in the UK using Microsoft's .NET framework, UWM connects office and mobile workers through an intuitive browser interface, sharing a database of properties, rounds, jobs, assets and contracts.
Covering 323 square miles, Wealden is the largest district in East Sussex, and is home to some 140,000 people. Half the population lives in five main towns: Crowborough, Hailsham, Heathfield, Polegate and Uckfield. Its many responsibilities include housing, planning, building control, waste collection, recycling, emergency planning and economic regeneration.
ROCC is Microsoft Gold Partner, member of the ORACLE partner network and Adobe partner. An approved partner of the Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) ROCC is a UK wide operation with Head Quarters in Brighton.
