Funding to tackle Scottish fridge mountains
The Scottish Executive is giving local authorities £3.3 million to develop safe disposal methods for the 220,000 fridges discarded each year in Scotland. The money will help authorities meet the costs of EU regulations on ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in fridges and freezers.
