Council takes position on waste trade rules
Governments are about to approve their first-reading position on a revision of the EU's waste shipments regulation. A draft common position released by the council of ministers reveals the overall shape of the agreement. The text should be rubber stamped later this month clearing the way for a second reading to begin.
Green Alliance claim micro-generators could solve domestic energy crisis
A report by the Green Alliance claims that household micro-generators could be the answer to the growing energy demand of the domestic sector and that the DTI and ODPM should prioritise their inclusion in all new building projects.
Commission funds over 200 environment projects worth EUR160 million
The European Commission has approved funding for over 200 projects worth €160 million under the LIFE programme 2004. LIFE is the EU's financial instrument for supporting environmental and nature conservation projects throughout the EU, in candidate countries and some neighbouring regions.
Commission launches consultation on climate change policy
The European Commission has launched a web-based consultation on the future of its climate change policy giving stakeholders the opportunity to contribute to the debate. The Commission will use the contributions in the development of the EU's future climate change policy.
