EU energy efficiency and services law agreed
EU governments have agreed to draw up a rolling series of energy efficiency action plans under a new law announced in the European parliament on Tuesday. MEP Mechtild Rothe, the parliament's rapporteur, said the directive would enable Europe to launch an energy savings offensive.
Germany not doing enough to protect conservation areas: Case C-98/03, Commission v Germany
The Advocate General delivered his opinion in the case of Commission v Germany on 24 November 2005. The case was brought against the Federal Republic of Germany back in February 2003, concerning alleged breaches of the Habitats Directive (Directive 92/43/EC).
Fridges throw spanner in WEEE works
The demanufacturing industry is calling on the EU to rewrite the rules for WEEE, claiming they need to clearly explain what should happen to the CFCs contained in end-of-life fridges and freezers. The RAL Quality Assurance Association for Demanufacture of Refrigeration Equipment Containg CFCs argues its case.
