REID Porta-Gantry contributes to CERN
When CERN, The European Organization for Nuclear Research located in Geneva, needed a versatile gantry for various applications such as the immersion of 14kA diodes into a liquid nitrogen Dewar for electrical tests, as well as lifting of translation tables for the calibration of magnetic measurements equipment, they approached REID Lifting about the PORTA-GANTRY systems.
They immediately saw the benefits in the lightweight, portable and easily adaptable nature of the PORTA-GANTRY system.
Even though it was not necessary to have a height-adaptable device, there were obvious flexibility and stabilization benefits when higher height lifting is not required. They also required a compact mobile unit to be able to easily move it around in "busy" areas.
REID Lifting responded rapidly with a PORTA-GANTRY system based around their "small" configurations with a Working Load Limit of 500kg (part of a range to WLL 5,000kg) with a delivery of just 2 weeks from the receipt of order. CERN were very pleased with REID's response.
