Hazardous waste containers aid site waste management plans
22 January 2008, News release from Boxclever Hazardous Waste Management Ltd
Boxclever Hazardous Waste Management Ltd has developed a variety of secure waste storage solutions suitable for the space saving needs of construction sites.
The versatile containers can be used to segregate different types of hazardous site waste including oil and solvent based liquids, wash down water, lubricants, batteries, packaging and even fluorescent tubes. A customised collection and disposal service enables waste volumes to be monitored and therefore facilitates measurement, management and potential reduction of waste, a requirement of Site Waste Management Plans (SWMPs), which are expected to become law in April 2008 for construction projects over £250,000.
Boxclever containers are currently in operation in a number of different industry sectors, from waste and property management to ferries and freight haulage, where the clear labelling has been readily understood by international teams. The containers ensure compliance with environmental legislation (Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005), which requires hazardous and non-hazardous waste to be correctly separated at source.
Boxclever works in conjunction with hazardous waste specialist, BCB Environmental Management Ltd, to ethically collect, transfer and dispose of waste, including supplying all Duty of Care compliance documentation. This service also enables the company to work with individual site managers or contractors to develop an appropriate SWMP which can identify types and quantities of hazardous waste produced on the project as well as suitable storage and disposal options, whilst effectively monitoring costs.
