CCM Facilities Achieves The Planet Mark Sustainability Certification After Committing To Reduce Carbon Emissions Year-On-Year

This is CCM’s first year of business carbon footprint reporting. The London based organisation calculated the emissions of its Head Office operations for the year ending March 2018 and set a target to reduce emissions by 5%. annually

The Planet Mark certification helps augment an existing sustainability agenda, that is rigorously adhered to by CCM’s workforce. This adherence has ensured the purchase of all paper products and furniture from sustainable sources and the provision of completely recyclable electrical equipment from specialist suppliers.
Upon receiving the certification to The Planet Mark CCM Managing Director, Greg Doherty commented; “I am pleased that Planet Mark have recognised the hard work that the CCM team have put into delivering on our continuous commitment to improving the environment. We are excited that 2019 will see us reach new levels of sustainability and with the help of Planet Mark, take another step towards achieving our sustainability goals.”

To assist CCM in achieving its sustainability goals in 2019, The Planet Mark team has made several recommendations, such as a company-wide energy audit and sustainability-focused workshops for employees. The formation of a Green Team will see at least one member from each department, meeting on a monthly basis to contribute to the development of new eco-friendly strategies.

CCM has achieved certification to The Planet Mark by showing good practice in sustainability including:
- Measuring carbon emissions from electricity, waste, water, fleet, travel and paper
- Storing 260 tonnes of CO2 by protecting one acre of endangered rainforest through the charity Cool Earth
- Committing to engage employees and suppliers to drive improvement
- Investing in the Eden Project to support education on climate change
Specific measures CCM is taking to hit its 2019 targets include:
- Conducting an energy audit to help identify where most energy is being used and potential wastage from equipment
- Organising annual sustainability workshops
- Investigating the installation of LED, T5 and sensor lighting and the upgrade of heating controls.

The Planet Mark is an internationally recognised and trusted sustainability certification programme, recognising commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability. It is awarded to businesses, properties, new developments and projects that are committed to reducing their carbon emissions.
