The case at a glance

A Swedish company sells consumer equipment (speakers/headphones) in different EU markets. Whilst the company was able to manage its own registration and reporting in Sweden, it needed to register quickly in other EU markets in order to comply with producer responsibility legislation.

Due to the complexity of compliance regulations, and because of limited in-house knowledge and resources, the company decided to outsource its compliance activities. EuropePlus provides straightforward compliance solutions with a single point of contact for producers with obligations

in several European countries.

Company description

The company, whose headquarters are in Sweden, was founded in 2008. It is a distance seller and online retailer only. It has another legal entity in France and sells electronic equipment to a total of nine EU countries. Those devices contain batteries and are shipped to consumers from Sweden in sales boxes containing paper/cardboard and plastic packaging.

The company had to assess whether it needed to comply for waste batteries, electronics and packaging in each of those countries, and whether it needed to appoint authorised representatives.
