Hiab Multilift launches new XR demountable body system for 32 tonne GVW Trucks at CV show
26 April 2013, News release from Cargotec UK Limited
Making its debut at the 2013 Commercial Vehicle Show (Stand 4H90) is the latest addition to the Hiab Multilift XR Power Range of demountable body systems.
Designed for 32 tonne GVW trucks, it is a sliding hooklift that utilises more advanced and lower weight materials to achieve a high payload. It also has features for increased safety and speed and to reduce fuel consumption.
Five options are available across the XR Power Range to improve performance and productivity and deliver significant lower cost of operation and environmental benefits in line with the Hiab Pro Future™ concept. These are:
•Automatic Sequence Control
The Fast Speed option allows empty bodies to be unloaded in a quarter of the normal time while maintaining precise control. This is achieved through the use of an integrated bypass and load-holding valve, which optimises oil flow when the main cylinders extend.
With the Fast Tipping function the operation can be carried out in a third of the normal time. The system automatically returns the cylinder speed to normal before the end of the stroke to protect the hooklift from damage or misuse.
The Fast Lowering option enables the hooklift to be lowered after tipping almost without using the hydraulic pump and also in a third of the normal time yet with full control throughout the operation. This results in less fuel being used leading to lower carbon dioxide emissions.
Fast Speed, Fast Lowering and Fast Tipping are part of a regenerative system that requires no increase in engine RPM by the driver, thus saving fuel and reducing emissions and noise during operation.
Automatic Sequence Control allows the driver to load or unload a container with just a single maintained movement of the joystick. This makes loading, unloading and tipping of the body quicker and simpler and leaves the driver with the choice of switching to manual control in situations where he prefers to control the operation himself.
The Friction Relief option eliminates the grating noise usually associated with loading and unloading containers and improves operating efficiency. It does this by automatically lifting the middle frame and the front of the body slightly during the horizontal movement, which eliminates vibration and noise caused by friction between the body and the subframe.
CO² and fuel consumption calculator
Hiab Multilift has developed a CO² and fuel consumption calculator to demonstrate the level of savings that these Pro Future™ options can deliver and which will be demonstrated to stand visitors during the show.
Data about the duty cycle and operation of the vehicle along with the equipment with which the Hiab Multilift system is being compared is inputted and figures are calculated showing the potential savings.
Over an eight year lifespan and based on a typical 10 cycle per day operation, the Fast Speed, Fast Tipping and Fast Lowering options can together deliver an estimated saving in CO² emissions and cost of operation of 18%, equating to in excess of £7,500 when compared to equipment without these options. This figure rises to 23% and over £10,500 when the comparison is with an equivalent competitor's equipment. There is also a significant saving in time which is calculated at over 20 minutes per day.
