The webinar is now available on-demand for registrants

The webinar took place at 11am on Tuesday 10 December and offered advice and insight from sustainability and finance experts on how businesses can use TCFD recommendations to improve sustainability strategies and align business outlooks with the growing demands of green investors.

Launched in December 2015 by Bank of England governor Mark Carney, the TCFD lays out the recommendations for businesses to identify and disclose information sought by investors and other external shareholders to assess the climate-related risks of their operations.

Notably, the recommendations call on companies to include the potential business impacts of different climate scenarios – including the 2C and 1.5C pathways of the Paris Agreement. Green groups have gone as far as to argue that the UK will not meet its 2050 net-zero goal unless all corporates begin to embed the TCFD recommendations within their business strategies.

Almost 800 organisations have expressed support for the recommendations, and include the world’s largest banks, asset managers and pension funds, responsible for assets of $118trn. Yet, best-practice examples of enacting the TCFD recommendations remain scarce. With that in mind, this webinar will hear from sustainability reporting experts and organisations that have actively aligned with the TCFD recommendations, showing you exactly what best practice looks like.

Avara Foods’s energy compliance and sustainability manager Baishakhi Sengupta, Landsec’s sustainability reporting manager Fernanda Amemiya and Gemma Clements were all on hand to discuss to opportunities and ways to align with the recommendations.

The webinar topic of climate-related financial disclosure is a key focus area for the Sustainability Leaders Forum 2020. Taking place on 4-5 February at the Business Design Centre in London, the Forum is the UK’s only dedicated sustainability event that combines strategic insight with practical outputs for business leaders.

Discussion points:

  • The changing sustainability expectations of investors
  • How businesses can align with the TCFD
  • Making sustainable business a board-level topic

The webinar is available to watch on-demand for those who have registered. Register here.
