Belgium rapped by Brussels

Belgium has failed to adopt laws on environmental impact assessments which should have been written into its statue books over two years ago.

Commission v Belgium

Environmental Impact Assessment

The European Court of Justice has found that Belgium has failed to transpose Directive 2001/42/EC on environmental impact assessment within the prescribed time, thereby failing in its obligations in terms of that Directive. The Directive should have been transposed by 21 July 2004, but measures to transpose it had not been taken at a federal level nor in the Flemish Area of Belgium.
