A materials recycling facility in Kent had to be closed on Tuesday afternoon after a body was found in a delivery of recyclables.

Police were called in after the man’s body was discovered in a co-mingled load at Viridor’s MRF in Crayford between 2pm and 2.30pm.

A statement released by Viridor on Tuesday said: “Viridor is cooperating fully with the investigating authorities.

“The length of the investigation is at this stage unknown and the MRF will be closed until the authorities are ready to release the site.

“Viridor is in the process of informing its customers of the situation and is currently working to provide suitable alternative arrangements, so that service delivery continues with minimal disruption.”
