Speaking to the siliconrepublic.com website, Liam Relihan, technical director of ResourceKraft, said that better energy management would help businesses reduce their environmental impact and operating costs.
He cited a recent report from the Small Firms Association which showed that, although energy costs are a serious concern for many businesses in Ireland, the country still has the highest greenhouse gas emissions per GDP in the EU.
To combat the situation, Mr Relihan said that businesses should monitor their electricity, gas, oil and water usage.
“This is the solution for anyone who believes they have a problem with expensive electricity bills and energy wastage,” he said to the site.
“In other words, businesses that don’t want energy management to become a full-time job.”
Commercial director Frank Casey added that simply monitoring usage could help a businesses slash energy costs by 10%.
“Energy waste is lost net profit, pure and simple. To make reductions, customers must first understand their energy usage,” he concluded.
