Charity wins BSkyB partnership
Environmental charity Global Action Plan has been picked as BSkyB's new charity partner following a nationwide search.
The three-year partnership aims to raise over £1m and enable Global Action Plan to use Sky’s resources to spread its message across the UK and Ireland.
The charity, based in London, was chosen from a shortlist of five organisations, following applications from more than 170 groups.
Global Action Plan bosses hope to inspire Sky customers and staff, as well as the wider community, to make positive changes in their daily lives to address climate change.
Trewin Restorick, founder and director of Global Action Plan, said: “Our partnership with Sky will be transformational for our organisation.
“With Sky reaching one in three families across the UK and Ireland, we have the potential to inspire action across our communities to help more people make positive changes in their daily lives.
“By working together and making small changes, we can have a big impact on climate change.”
Jeremy Darroch, CEO of Sky, said: “Combining Sky’s resources and reach with Global Action Plan’s expertise and practical, fun approach means we can move faster and further in helping and inspiring others to join us and live a low carbon lifestyle.
“We are already working closely with Global Action Plan to develop our three-year programme, which we look forward to announcing in due course.”

“They made this a very difficult decision for us to make.”
Global Action Plan, which was founded in 1993, beat the Campaign for Learning, I CAN, WWF and The Zoological Society of London, to win the partnership.
The charity’s recent work includes the publication of An Inefficient Truth, a report exposing the carbon footprint of the ICT industry.
