The Chemical Industries Association has said it is delighted with the sector’s performance following the publication of the Environment Agency’s Spotlight report on business’ environmental performance.

The report grades 42% of chemical companies as ‘excellent’ in terms of environmental responsibility.

“We are a mature industry that takes its responsibilities to the environment very seriously,” said Diana Montgomery, director of business and technical affairs at the CIA.

“We have worked with the Environment Agency to develop the Chemical Sector Plan, a voluntary agreement between our industry and the agency, to work towards further minimizing the impact of our industry on the environment.”
