China: Five-year prison sentence in first criminal environmental case
The former head of a Chinese paper mill has been sentenced to five years in prison, in China's first criminal environmental case.
Yang Yunwu was also ordered to pay a fine of some $6,000, after the paper mill discharged untreated effluent into the Tianma municipal water supply, causing the system to be shut down for three days, reports Inside China Today.
