COP26 Covered podcast episode 7: Youth climate marches and the role of sustainability leaders
To mark Youth and Public Empowerment Day of COP26, Sarah speaks with two leading youth activists and campaigners, while Matt joins a climate march through Glasgow to discuss how businesses can move from 'blah, blah, blah' to 'action, action action'.
Whether you’re a business leader, climate expert, environmental professional, youth activist – or just someone with a passion for all things sustainability and climate action – this podcast is for you! COP26 Covered podcast brings you everything you need to know from each day of the crucial climate talks, wrapped up into 30-minute episodes.
In today’s episode…
Sarah visits an evening event hosted by Nando’s to discuss first steps in becoming a climate activist with anti-racism educator and social activist Angel Arutura and Mark James, the co-founder of Earthtopia – a TikTok community of 182,000 people.
Then, as Youth and Empowerment day rolls into action, Matt tries and fails to blend in with a youthful crowd at the Fridays For Future Climate Strike in Glasgow. During the march, Matt catches up with Crista Buznea, Head of Marketing at Ecologi, and an edie 30 under 30 alumni. Buznea is on hand to discuss how businesses can take the messages issued at the Climate Strikes and translate them into sustainable action.
Finally, Matt drops by a café near the Blue Zone to catch-up with Ezgi Barcenas, chief sustainability officer at Anheuser-Busch InBev to ask her how businesses and sustainability professionals can cut through the noise at COP26 to empower people, staff and communities to improve societal and planetary prosperity.
