The proposal would allow the development of an integrated waste management facility for commercial waste. The development will create a bespoke waste management facility for Cory in a central location in the county.
The proposals include a materials recycling facility (MRF) with the capacity to sort up to 35,000 tonnes of co-mingled recyclables from local businesses each year, including paper, cardboard, steel and aluminium cans and plastic bottles.
An adjacent bulk transfer facility will have a capacity of 115,000 tonnes per year and will be used for the temporary storage and transfer of residual waste.
Cory Environmental Municipal Services’ general manager, Nigel Carr, said: “Cory has developed the plans to provide a much needed commercial and industrial waste facility for businesses in Cornwall. Environmentally beneficial features of the proposals include the generation of electricity with solar photovoltaic roof panels.”
