Aerobic digesion

DEFINITION: The process of breaking down organic matter, commonly sewage or animal and food waste, into carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfate and water. It is a bacterial process that requires the presence of oxygen.

Aerobic digestion is typically used in activated sludge treatment plants, but can be used to process any organic waste.
