Cold store

DEFINITION: Also known as cool stores, cold stores are refrigerated rooms, buildings or other units designed for the storage of goods in an environment below the outdoor temperature. While cold stores have traditionally been powered by diesel generators or electricity from non-renewable sources, retailers including M&S and Waitrose and Partners have recently moved to trial innovative, low-carbon alternatives.
