Delivering business action: edie kicks off SDG Week of content and events

Brought to you by the award-winning edie content team, the Sustainable Development Goals Week 2022 (20 – 23 September) is edie’s themed week of editorial content and events dedicated to informing and inspiring businesses to accelerate action on the UN’s Global Goals.

Delivering business action: edie kicks off SDG Week of content and events

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – which define our global priorities and aspirations for 2030 – represent a crucial opportunity to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and protect our planet. Achieving the Goals requires an unprecedented effort across all aspects of society – and business sits at the heart of it.

But with just eight years left to deliver on the ambition of the SDGs, it’s clear that business must step up if we’re to have the positive impact on society which the Goals ultimately exist to drive.

edie’s SDG Week is about driving the transformational action needed to achieve the Goals. Hosted during the UN’s official Global Goals Week and tying in with Climate Week NYC, edie’s Focus Week will provide need-to-know industry updates, thought leadership discussions and practical insights which empower businesses to transform our world through the SDG framework.

We will be offering up a plethora of inspirational digital content throughout the week – led by a high-level online event, a Goal-focused webinar, a downloadable SDG progress report, an SDG special episode of the edie podcast and plenty of exclusive interviews and op-eds. Read on for more information on what we have planned.

Interviews and opinions

Throughout the week, the edie team will be running high-level interviews with some of the driving forces aiming to build momentum towards the SDGs, including Paul Polman, Damilola Ogunbiyi, the chief executive of Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and representatives from the Chief Financial Officers’ Coalition for the SDGs and the Business Avengers.

Reports and guides

edie readers will be able to gain access to a new report entitled “Achieving the SDGs: A blueprint for business leadership in the 2020s” which provides an overview of progress towards the 17 SDGs to date.

This report combines expert insight with real-life case studies. The report offers an end-to-end overview of exactly how businesses can advance global progress towards achieving all 17 SDGs by 2030.

New-look Podcast

edie’s long-running podcast is returning later this year with a new look, feel and style, with a dedicated episode to be published during SDG Week focused on how businesses are helping to deliver against key planetary and social needs.

Business action on the SDGs: The Sustainable Development Inspiration Sessions

The Sustainable Development Inspiration Sessions offer up an afternoon of live, interactive webinar presentations and discussions – all dedicated to giving businesses the tools and knowledge to maximise their contribution to the Global Goals.

With just eight years left to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 underlying targets, it’s clear that business must step up if we’re to have the positive impact on society that the Goals ultimately exist for.

How should an organisation define its priorities within the SDG framework? How can Goals and sub-targets be integrated with existing corporate strategies to accelerate action? And how can progress towards the Goals be communicated and reported in ways which maximise reach and impact? Ultimately, what will it take for businesses to achieve the Goals by 2030?

This online event effectively combines three edie webinars into a single afternoon, with each webinar session taking a particular focus and format. The first session (one hour) will be a Q&A-style SDG debate; the second session (one hour) will be a series of quick-fire, Goal-based case studies; and the third session (45 minutes) will take a ‘masterclass’ format.

Action inspires action. Stay ahead of the curve with sustainability and energy newsletters from edie
