Earth Day & Paris Agreement signing ceremony: As it happened
Earth Day 2016 was one of the most important days for the future of our planet, with more than 170 political leaders signing the Paris climate change agreement. Re-live all of the action and reaction as it happened in edie's live green business blog.
A total of 175 global heads of state and political leaders gathered at the UN headquarters in New York for the high-level signing ceremony of the historic Paris Agreement, which was set last December at COP21.
Fittingly, the signing ceremony was held on Earth Day 2016 – the 46th year of a movement that continues to inspire and motivate people and business to ramp up climate action.
With so much resting on the outcome of the developments in New York, and a plethora of big business pledges, bold political statements and calls to climate action expected over the next 24 hours, edie kept readers updated with all of the key announcements as they happened throughout the day, in this live blog.
Happy Earth Day 2016!
