edie launches Business Manifesto to help redefine sustainability leadership

This document offers an easy-to-follow roadmap for climate action over the next 12 months.

Despite a growing number of organisations committing to new, more sustainable ways of operating, the timeframe to deliver transformative change that alleviates environmental pressures and rebalances social inequalities is rapidly shrinking. It’s time for courageous business leaders to raise the bar, take bold new actions and collectively achieve our Global Goals.

This Sustainable Business Manifesto, co-created by edie’s 30 Under 30 Class of 2019 and members of our Sustainability Leaders Club, lists eight principles that will push corporations to ramp up their efforts across all aspects of sustainable development in 2020, and beyond while creating value for their shareholders. The Manifesto will be re-evaluated annually by the new cohort of 30 Under 30 members.

The Manifesto outlines eight key ways that businesses can raise the bar on corporate activism to deliver long-lasting, holistic and sustainable change, ranging from utilising existing global frameworks to re-evaluating financial decisions and value chains to ensure that sustainability is no longer focused on “less bad”.

Nominations for edie’s 30 Under 30 Class of 2020 close on Friday 31 January

Ambitious young sustainability and energy professionals are encouraged to put forward a nomination for edie’s 30 Under 30 – its annual networking and support programme for future business leaders to share ideas and further their careers.

Following the hugely successful launch of the initiative last year, edie is now welcoming applications for the second 30 Under 30 cohort, the Class of 2020. Successful applicants will gain an unrivalled opportunity to connect with one another, gain valuable recognition and develop their skills and knowledge throughout the year.
