In an effort to mobilise business contributions towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), edie has launched a new best-practice case study series highlighting how businesses are helping to achieve the Global Goals.

case studies will appear on the edie website every month

It is becoming increasingly apparent that businesses are struggling to deliver against the Goals. Global in scope, they can be hard to digest and translate into community or operative actions, but nonetheless, companies continue to badge their CSR actions against the 17 Goals.

Of the 200 sustainability professionals, edie’s team surveyed for its inaugural Mission Possible report earlier this year, more than two-thirds said that aligning the Global Goals with their organisation’s core purpose would be the crucial factor in bridging the gap between SDG alignment and action. Yet, one in 10 said their organisation had no intention to ever assess its impact towards the Goals.

edie’s new case study series shines a light on the corporates that have taken significant steps in aligning and contributing to the UN’s Global Goals, focusing on specific projects and case studies to showcase how and why the SDGs can and should be incorporated into business actions.

These case studies will appear on the edie website every month and will offer readers a greater understanding of how organisations can align or create targets to contribute to the SDGs. Accompanying blogs, podcasts and features will appear in due course.

First, edie explores how Asia Pulp & Paper’s (APP) is helping to achieve Goal 15: Life on Land. Read the feature here.

This first case study explores what aspects of Goal 15 are of material importance to APP, and what projects and programmes the organisation has introduced to help deliver on the goal, notably the Integrated Forestry and Farming System programme.

APP’s European director of sustainability and stakeholder engagement Liz Wilks also provides exclusive insight as to how to successfully engage with the Global Goals.
