The role of promoting renewable sources of energy will be the key talking point from the energy supplier’s angle at sustainabilitylive 2009.
Helen Steed, business development manager for Npower, wants to encourage the industry and consumers to adapt and change.
She said: “It’s a tricky time at the moment economically to be pushing the renewable angle, but we need to be thinking more about it.
“I’ll be talking about what the energy companies are doing and how there’s more to it than simply gas and electricity.
“It’ll be about how we’re moving to renewables, adapting and changing.”
From Npower’s point of view Ms Steed will be talking about the company’s work with solar products primarily.
She’ll also discuss the company’s work investing in a wide range of environmentally friendly technologies from wind farms, heat pumps and biomass to name just few.
Ms Steed, who’s been involved in energy efficiency for 15 years, will also give an insight into the Npower’s future plans and those of her competitors.
She added: “A lot of the presentation will be on the costs and explaining why the momentum towards more renewable sources of energy has slowed down.”
Ms Steed joined Npower in 2006 as part of the newly formed Environment & Renewables team with responsibilities for Juice Fund, and all development of microgeneration and environmental technologies for the residential market.
