The Commission for a Sustainable London 2012, the environmental advisors for the city’s Olympic plans, is looking to recruit experts from a number of fields to ensure it can give an informed view on the plans.

The commission wants to hear from those specialising in climate change, waste issues and biodiversity to act as honorary commissioners.

“This is an opportunity to be part of a pioneering team, committed to an ambitious and world-leading agenda,” said Shaun McCarthy, chairman of the commission.

“These honorary commissioners will be focused on maximising the social, economic and environmental benefits that the 2012 Games will bring. With various skills and knowledge, they will help assess the positive and negative impacts of the Games and make recommendations to the Olympic Board and report to the public.

“Getting the right mix of experts from London and the UK would be critical to the success of the commission.”

Applications for the appointments close at noon Monday July, 16.
