The US Environmental Protection Agency has published guidance outlining the potential benefits for air quality of fitting emission-scrubbers on diesel vehicles.

The EPA guidance says retrofitting existing diesel vehicles could cut nitrogen oxide emissions by 50% while particulate matter and volatile organic compounds could be cut be up to 90%.
