Vestas Wind Systems A/S has received an order for 42 wind turbines via its German subsidiary, Vestas Deutschland GmbH. The order, worth €69 million, will be delivered by summer of 2003 to Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Vurttemberg. Vestas Wind Systems has also been asked to supply 50 offshore 2MW turbines to a Belgian wind project run by the Temporary Association Electrabel – Ondememingen Jan de Nul. The Seanergy installation will be completed by 2004.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is handling a Russian public-sector deal worth €233 million. The Bank is providing an 18-year loan to the Russian Federation for a flood barrier project.

The European Investment Bank has signed a loan with the Czech Republic to finance the repairs of damages caused by the floods in August 2002. The loan covers €400 million worth of reconstruction.

BASF has released its sustainability report which has come first in two of the categories assessed by UNEP: top of the chemical industry and top Germany company.
