European Commission calls for water treatment and management in Mediterranean

The European Commission is calling for proposals for projects between €1 million and €5 million to aid the enhancement of regional co-operation in the sustainable management of water resources in the Mediterranean.


Areas of action are to include: integrated management of drinking water supply, sanitation and sewage; water demand management; mitigation of the effects of drought; irrigation water management; and information exchange. The Commission is looking for 10-15 projects to take a share of a €32.6 million fund.

Non-profit public and private organisations from the European Union, in consortia with Euro-Mediterranean countries are eligible to apply for the scheme. Proposals should be presented by a consortium composed of at least two organisations from different EU member states and at least two organisations from different Mediterranean countries.

Applications should be submitted by midday on 31 May.
