The German government is offering drivers of older diesel vehicles a tax rebate of 330 Euros if they retro-fit a particulate filters to clean up their emissions.

Motorists who have the work done will receive the rebate, while those who do not will see their vehicle excise duty rise by around 25 Euros every year until they switch to a cleaner car.
