Neil Bentley, director business environment, told visitors to Birmingham’s sustainabilitylive! Said he was hearing business tell him that a low carbon economy was now simply general business.

And, in order to prevent the issue from becoming stale he wants to see the governmentcome up with a co-ordinated strategy for creating a low carbon economy.

He said: “We’ve seen some outstanding climate change legislation and we know the government and main opposition parties in building a low carbon economy.

“And we all know it’s not going to be achievable without some radical change.

“From our prospective business is up for the challenge.

“CBI members are telling us day in day out that the low carbon agenda is just becoming more business to them.

“And they’re urging us to do lobbying and make sure we’re positioning business well for the opportunities ahead.”
