Government puts brownfield sites database online

The locations of selected brownfield sites can now be accessed on the National Land Use Database (NLUD) website – ‘http://www.nlud.org.uk’ – the result of a partnership between DETR, Ordnance Survey, the local government Improvement and Development Agency and English Partnerships.

Showing over 3,500 sites in 46 local authority areas, the database gives details of previous land use and planning status. Building on figures previously published by NLUD, the new service is a pilot for an accessible geographical inventory of brownfield sites that is being developed to facilitate the re-use of land.
