The awards, which will be in their fourth year in 2010, were a huge success when held last year with host Hugh Dennis at London’s Hurlingham Club.

The new category also sees a new judge join the ranks of green talent who will be casting an eye over the short-listed projects.

Greg Archer the director of the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LCVP) joins an esteemed list of names which has included green campaigner Jonathon Porritt, TV presenter Joanna Yarrow and 2012 Olympic sustainability supremo Peter Bonfield.

Mr Archer, who is a former associate director of Atkins Environment and also spent two years teaching chemistry in rural Zimbabwe, has headed up the LCVP since 2004.
