Alan Beresford of EcoCooling explained how firms with large server needs could cut costs by 95% by switching to more environmentally friendly ways of cooling.

He claims a firm using a 100 kilo-watt server room will be using cooling equipment generating 28 kilo-watts of power.

However, by using equipment like his, a firm could slash this down to a mere 4.2 kilo-watts.

He explained: “Companies are paying thousands of pounds for keeping server rooms cool and much of it could be saved with the installation of equipment which is more cost effective.”

But, he also sounded a note of caution if the UK was to experience another hot summer, predicting crashes if temperatures reach 36 degrees.
