Heil wins business from Heathrow to the Borders
Recent orders for Heil range from the Home Counties to the Scottish Borders. Sweeney Environmental Ltd, a specialist in the collection and recycling of construction waste in London and the Home Counties, has bought two Heil Big Bite Rear End Loaders to operate on Heathrow'a Terminal 5 construction site.
The T5 project is set to last five years and, during this time, has to comply with a number of sustainability and environmental criteria, which the use of the Heil Big Bites should help to fulfil. In particular, the vehicles’ capacity of 27m3 means that they are able to transport a substantial amount of waste at any one time, thereby reducing vehicle movements in and out of the site. This is seen as essential for the project as fewer journeys mean less fuel and reduced emissions which overall will have less of an impact on the surrounding community.
The Big Bites have been specified with Heil’s Comb Lift, which enables them to lift REL and Euro bins at the same time. In addition, the Comb Lift can handle containers from 120 to 1,280 litres and, using an electrical push-button, it can be programmed for precision operation.
Both vehicles are built on a Scania chassis fitted with all the latest emission reduction equipment and they also have a full on-board weighing system from PM Onboard and bin identifying equipment from MDRC.
Maintenance of the Big Bites will be carried out by Heil.
Business in the Borders
In another recent deal, Scottish Borders Council has taken delivery of its second Heil Powerlink. The new RCV is based at Hawick and joins the Council’s fleet of 22 as a replacement for an older vehicle.
Works Manager, Sandy McVitte, said: “We were looking for a vehicle that could carry out general domestic and commercial refuse collections in a mixed rural environment and Heil’s Powerlink met our needs. It is reliable and gives an optimum performance, which is one of the main things we were looking for.”
In addition, Scottish Borders Councils’ Powerlink is equipped with the Heil Universal Trade Lift (UTL), which is designed to maximise flexibility. As well as accommodating most lifting requirements, regardless of vehicle model or bin size, it also lifts and empties containers ranging from 120 to 1,280 litres, together with the traditional round paladin squeeze clamp bind.
The Powerlink, manufactured by Heil, is designed to offer flexibility to RCV fleets. Its full-cycle compaction mechanism is stated to produce less friction than conventional channelled compaction systems. A newly designed hydraulic system is also stated to offer reduced downtime, lower maintenance costs and less risk of environmental pollution.
Heil offers a variety of options for body sizes on the Powerlink , with cubic capacities of 16 to 26m3.
The Powerlink is also available with a curved body shell, whose lines allow large customer decals to be fitted with needing additional signboards.
