Hire group targets recycling market.

Vibroplant sees the move, which is the latest element in its development programme, as offering the industry a blend of service and equipment, meeting users specific rental requirements for specification and continued operation.

Short term or contract rental arrangements, backed by the group’s national service network, are available from the division which is part of the company’s Construction Services Division, headed by John Tull. He commented at the launch of the Recycling and Handling Division that it had been established “partly as a response to what we have seen as a major gap in the market.”

Screens available through the new division include the Extec 5000, 6000 and Turbo as well as the Turbotrac and Robotrac. Alongside these machines the Vibroplant Division offers the Mega-Bite Crusher and a range of attachments which enable each machine to be specified to suit specific requirements.

Specific markets which Vibroplant has identified according to John Tull include demolition and civil engineering, particularly road construction where the equipment allows large volume material to be crushed for laying on site, thus reducing truck movements. The waste handling industry, particularly bulk transfer stations, is also seen as another area with major potential in the separation of material that can be recycled from waste.

The new division has notched up some notable examples of how the rental operation can pay off for clients such as the supply of an Extec Megabite crusher to a new housing project in Northamptonshire involving demolition and site clearance. The equipment has significantly reduced the need to remove waste from the site whilst acting as a source of road material for use by the site construction company. The crusher is reported to have handled virtually all the demolished material, including concrete and major structural elements, processing it at the rate of 150 tonnes/hour.

Other examples of the range of operations served by this new Vibroplant rental division include landscaping work at Humberside Airport. After successful screening of hard core for recycling, a Robotrac mobile screen was moved to another location on site where it has helped to create a supply of topsoil for planting and landscaping a new car park area.

In another application, which illustrates the versatility of the range of screening units and crushers available, an Extec Turbo on hire from Vibroplant is used for accurate grading of ash at Powergen’s Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station in Nottinghamshire.
