Investigations launched into fuel leak at naval station

The US Navy and state environmental officials have launched separate investigations following the release of an estimated 1000 gallons (3785 litres) into Port Gardner Bay. The spill occurred when crew members were transferring jet fuel from one tank to another aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln on 12 January 1999.
