Italy falls foul of ship waste laws

The European Court of Justice has upheld a complaint lodged by the European Commission that Italy failed to implement the European Directive 2000/59/EC on port reception facilities for ship-generated waste and cargo residues by failing to draw up and adopt, in respect of each Italian port, the necessary waste reception and handling plans.
