We currently have an exciting 6-month fixed term opportunity for an Escapes Optimisation Engineer to join the Customer Field Services team at Yorkshire Water.

 

This is a full-time role based at our offices in Bradford, however, you will be required to visit sites across the Yorkshire Region therefore a full valid EU driving licence is an essential requirement for this role.

 

What does the role involve?

 

The Escapes Optimisation Engineer ensures that our regulatory Performance Commitments are achieved, through ensuring that polices and processes are fit for purpose.

 

 The Escapes Optimisation Engineer will ensure that the recording of Network Escapes and Pollutions as well as the reporting to internal and external stakeholders is both timely and accurate.

 

Working in the Escapes Team, you will support and embrace proactive ways of working to reduce both first-time and repeat failures, contributing to the delivery of our performance commitments.  

 

You will monitor network escapes recording, ensuring that where a reportable event has occurred, the appropriate response procedures are followed, and the incident is properly recorded and reported. 

 

Working closely with Service Delivery teams, you will highlight areas where network interventions, colleague training, new equipment and techniques will reduce the risk of Network Escapes, and deliver training or promote solutions to reduce that risk.

 

The role is responsible for ensuring that every Network Escape incident is recorded in our corporate systems, that processes are followed, that the processes are regularly reviewed and revised where needed.

 

You will be using your knowledge of the sewerage network and understanding of the issues around Network Escapes to ensure that all of our processes are appropriate, followed, and continuously improved.

 

The key challenges facing the role are to ensure delivery of our in year regulatory Performance Commitments to avoid financial penalties through effective end-to end incident  and process management. Along with this you will need to gain advocacy for change from the business where investigation identifies a need to do things differently.

 

The role involves team working, so you will also need to be flexible in both where you can work and in sharing workloads with others.

 

You will also ensure that in-year and year end reporting of failures is accurate. 


What skills are required?


Essential:

In-depth knowledge of Microsoft applications, YW telemetry and ICOM systems
Subject matter expert on Internal Sewer Flooding and Pollution Incidents
Good understanding of Environmental risk
Good understanding of flooding incident classification
Excellent analytical skills, proficient in the use of SAP and Odyssey and corporate systems 
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
Good understanding of sewer networks, common failure modes and solutions
Ability to build and maintain a network of working relationships both internally and externally
A full valid EU driving licence       

 

Desirable:

Outline understanding or the E&M aspects of the network
Outline understanding of the treatment processes
