Douglas notches up orders and clinches Madvac deal
Douglas Equipment, the manufacturer of the Douglas Elgin Whirlwind truck mounted road sweeper and one of the world's leading suppliers of aviation and dockside towing tractors and ground support vehicles, has been appointed the exclusive distributor for Madvac litter collectors and compact sweepers in the UK.
The company states: "After weeks of negotiation and speculation regarding the UK Madvac distribution rights following dissolution of the Johnston Group, this announcement will result in what is sure to be a mutually beneficial association for both companies."
Douglas Equipment has already begun to oversee the distribution of Madvac products, showing Madvac PS 300 and CN sub compact machines on its stand at CIWM Torbay.
Madvac's extensive line of litter collectors and compact sweepers will complement the Whirlwind which, since its introduction 12 months ago, is gaining orders around the UK, reporting a total of 14 over the year. Customers include Mendip, Hart, Connaught and Angus.
This new alliance will underscore Madvac's continued presence in the European
Ron Hopkins, Director of Douglas Equipment's Special Products Division, comments; "This is another coup for Douglas and we feel that the Madvac products will sit very comfortably alongside the Whirlwind, enabling us to offer a comprehensive sweeping and litter collection capability from a single source.
"Madvac products are highly acclaimed and have been the subject of significant design and manufacturing investment in recent times. In particular, the Madvac CN100 offers a range of industry leading features and presents Douglas with the opportunity to promote its product range to a wider market place. This is a very exciting development for Douglas and Madvac and we look forward to working together."
