Manchester places £2m-plus RCV order
Manchester City Council has placed orders for refuse collection vehicles valued at over £2 million with Norba Ltd.
The Norba RL300 21m3 bodies will be fitted with Terberg TCA-DEL binlifts and mounted on Mercedes Econic chassis. The Manchester specification required vehicles to handle efficiently large numbers of wheeled bins on domestic collection rounds, coupled with the capability to handle bulky household waste items. Norba says that its latest RL300 range combines high legal payload, fast cycle times and optimum design for wheeled bin applications which are stated to have proved conclusive in the trials.
Ian Dyer, Assistant Director at Manchester City Council, said: "The Norba Terberg combination proved first class in terms of efficient handling of the wheeled bins and delivered the necessary flexibility for the bulky waste rounds."
The vehicles will be supplied on contract hire to Manchester by Extra Leasing and will be commissioned to commence operation in April this year.
