New tracked waste handler debuts in UK
The first Caterpillar D7R waste handing arrangement to be sold in the UK is part of a new Cat fleet being used by Severn Waste Services, the operating company for Mercia Waste Management Ltd, across one of its operations at the Hill and Moor Landfill site in Worcestershire.

The site, in Pershore, handles over 350,000 tonnes per year of mixed domestic and commercial waste, with around 1,000 tonnes of waste tipped at the landfill face each day.

The new Caterpillar line up comprises two 816F landfill compactors, a D250E series articulated dump truck, plus a D7R track-type tractor and a 938G tracked loader, both in specialised waste arrangements. The machines operate across the landfill operation with each compactor working 40 hours per week, with the D7R waste handler also operating on the landfill site, as well as spreading cover, working on restoration activities being conducted around the site and providing material for capping the landfill.
The 938G waste handler is employed primarily on a composting venture that produces over 9,000 tonnes of compost each year from incoming 16,000 tonnes of "green" household waste.
