Snowie Group invests in plant for expansion
Snowie Group, a leading waste management company based in Scotland which also operates in England, has been investing in new developments and plant in recent months.
In July, the Snowie Group purchased the site (120 acres including adjoining woodland) and transport assets of Dundas Brothers Ltd, Kintore This acquisition has increased the requirements for Snowie's transport services by 15 - 20 vehicles. The site has planning permission for waste-to-energy facilities / development. Dundas Brothers Ltd closed a rendering plant after SEPA issued a Prohibition Notice requiring certain works to be carried out. Dundas Brothers Ltd has gone into liquidation and Blair Nimmo of KPMS has been appointed Liquidator.
Once the plant, equipment and remaining materials have been cleared by the Liquidator, The Snowie Group will undertake a review of the rendering facility and the equipment therein, in full consultation with SEPA.
No decision will be made on the future of the rendering plant at Kintore for some months.
Snowie has also purchased two new depots in England (Leeds and Loughborough) - to service its Severn Trent contract and other contracts in the area - (workshop facilities and office back up). Some 70% of Snowie's work-load is currently based south of the border.New equipment

In addition, Snowie is currently trying to source a specialised "split compartment" trade waste vehicle, capable of collecting and transporting a mix of wastes at the same time - ie both food waste (non-recyclable until treated) and dry recyclables. The company requires a vehicle that will service bin sizes of between 240 and 1,100 litres.Recycling
The company's Materials Recycling Facility at Grangemouth has now been in operation for three years and is maintaining a rate of recycling 72% of all waste handled. It is the first of four MRF's planned by The Snowie Group for Scotland.
