Terberg Matec buys will Engineer to target growing recycling market
Across the RCV chassis specialist body and binlift market, mergers and advances in design continue to offer widening options to waste and transport managers in the public and private sectors.
Will Engineer was founded in 1991 by its present managing director Will Marzano, who will remain with the business to head this newly created specialist vehicle division. He, and the current workforce of 19, have already moved to a brand new manufacturing facility in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, where all production for Terberg Matec and the former Will Engineer brand of recycling vehicles will be centered.
Terberg Matec's Warrington head office operation will continue to be the centre for binlift production. Commenting further of the move, Tim Conlon added, "The acquisition is really a consequence of the tremendous growth we've seen in the sales of recycling vehicle here in the UK, and the opportunity that Will Engineer presented to us to strengthen our position in the market."
Will Marzano, for his part, said: "I'm delighted to be joining Terberg Matec, as are my colleagues.
"The resources and structure of such a major company presented us with the best solution for us to develop our recycling range to its maximum potential. This would have been much more difficult for us had we remained independent."
At IWM Torbay Terberg Matec exhibited its entire range of products, including a new range of trade bin lifts marketed under the Terberg Trojan banner and a range of recycling vehicles. "It's the first time we've moved into this sector of the market" said Mr Conlon.
Featuring a new bolt-on mounting frame system, the latest range of bin lifts from Terberg Matec UK Ltd is designed to offer a number of advantages including easier fitting and servicing. Suitable for use with a broad range of RCV refuse and recycling vehicles, the new lifts are suitable for handling both roll and flat top bins with capacities from 660 to 1,280 litres.
Two models are available, the Tinium and the Trojan. The Tinium is a lightweight manual split lift suitable for use on RCVs with a GVW as low as 10 tonnes. The Trojan is a heavy-duty bar lift unit that can also be specified with Paladin clamps.
The new lifts are designed so that all moving parts are within the width of the RCV hopper. The lateral frame mounting is also below the hopper rave so that access is not restricted. This enables manual loading without any compromise in ease of access to the hopper. This is a critical feature and ideally suits the new lifts to mixed RCV loading applications, states Terberg Matec.
