The patented £500,000 system, named OSCAR – Oil Separation Concentration

and Recovery – is the only one in the world to use APR (Accelerated Phase Separation)

technology to strip out volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during the evaporation

process. It has been developed by Kidderminster-based Industrial Waste Treatment

Ltd.

The move is part of OSS Group’s global environmental strategy to lead the industry

in recycling valuable resources and to embrace the forthcoming legislative changes

that will shape the future of specialist waste management.

OSCAR, which will also shortly be installed at the company’s largest plant

at Morley, near Leeds, is ideal for many other manufacturing applications which

produce soluble oil, for example the metal grinding, pharmaceutical and catering

industries.

Andy McNair, managing director of OSS Group, comments: “The introduction

of OSCAR is a giant leap forward in our environmental strategy and we are delighted

that we are leading the industry with the first installation of its kind in

the world.”

Richard Lilleystone, director of Industrial Waste Treatment, added: “After

a great deal of research and development, we now have a process that is second

to none. In addition to a new standard of environmental compliance, the installation

has given the OSS Group a leading edge on the market, and with a second installation

imminent, we feel that we have made a valuable contribution to the companies

current and future profit.”
