In areas where over 300,000 families have been resettled as part of the land reform programme, access to safe water is estimated to be as low as 11% but at just 1% coverage, sanitation is also a rehabilitation priority.
Failure by Harare City Council to address the continuing water crisis is impacting negatively on the day-to-day running of public institutions in the city, according to a report in the Zimbabwean Standard. Hospitals, clinics, schools and companies in areas of high-density population go without water for days. Officials have warned of an impending public health crisis.
