Dual purpose sound level meter launched

With the imminent introduction of the new Control of Noise at Work Regulations in 2006, many companies are looking to re-assess their noise measurements and controls to ensure that they will still be able to comply with the lower limits.

br>In addition to the new limits for occupational noise, many safety officers now have to deal with environmental noise issues, increasing the need for a dual purpose measurement tool that can cope with any measurement situation.

The CR:821B Sound Level Meter from Cirrus Research plc has been designed to meet these requirements in a simple to operate package. The instrument will provide for the measurement of Leq and LCPeak for compliance with the Noise at Work Regulations, with the Deaf Defier3 software providing for the calculation of noise exposures and LEP,d. Octave Band levels can be measured and the software will aid in the selection of any appropriate PPE using the built in database of over 85 hearing defenders and ear plugs.

The Sound Level Meter will also measure Leq, Lmax, L10 and L90 for recording environmental noise levels and, when the instrument is used with an Outdoor Measurement Kit, noise levels can be measured and automatically logged for up to 14 days in any weather conditions.

The CR:821B can also be used with the Frequency Master software package which allows the noise levels recorded by the Sound Level Meter to be recorded and analysed in real time as 1:1 Octave, 1:3 Octave or Narrow Band (FFT). The Frequency Master package can be added at any time to any of the CR:800B or CR:260 Series Sound Level Meters from Cirrus Research plc
