Who has the best reputation in IPPC

By October next year all industries must be compliant with the EU's Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Directive but despite the imminent implementation most people who responded to our survey do not see it as having a huge potential for growth.

Customers said they only expected to see a slight increase in the need for services relating to IPPC over the next two years – putting it significantly behind all other areas across the environmental sector.

Meanwhile most consultants believed there would be significant growth in the sector but that it would be outstripped by that of the booming markets of waste and renewable energy.

The data (see below) shows Atkins sitting in first place, with the best reputation for IPPC amongst both consultants and their customers, snatching the crown from last year’s leader, Enviros which now finds itself in a very strong third place.

Squeezed in the small margin that separates these two giants is Entec, holding a second place that is truly snapping at Atkins’ heals.

It is also worth noting that some of the smaller, specialised consultancies are giving the big boys a run for their money in this sector and, perhaps as it is not seen a priority area by the industry’s giants thus leaving space for those who have chosen to focus their talents on this market.
