The Environmental Industries Commission (EIC) will be informing businesses on the new Commission on Environmental Markets and Economic Performance (CEMEP) strategy in an exclusive seminar held at Sustainabilitylive! on May 20.

The new strategy, which aims to help UK business take the lead in international environmental markets, will be announced in early May and is in response to the CEMEP report, commissioned by Gordon Brown to advise government on how the UK could make the most of the potential economic benefits of the transition to a low carbon, sustainable economy.

Peter Young, CEMEP commissioner and director at Enviros will be among a number of speakers at the seminar, which will be held at 2.30pm in the Brownfield Expo (BEX) area of Sustainabilitylive!

The EIC is also running the Brownfield Conference on May 21 at Sustainabilitylive!

This will draw on the expertise of leading specialists from officials, regulators and industry to provide advance warning policy intelligence, definitive current status reports and clear guidance on the regulatory framework. Barbara Young, chief executive of the Environment Agency, will be delivering the keynote speech.

EIC director Merlin Hyman said: “The UK environmental industry now has a huge variety of solutions on offer to address the environmental challenges we face.

“Sustainabilitylive! provides an important showcase to examine and debate key issues surrounding environmental impacts.”

BEX is one of the UK’s national event for land users, major contractors, local authorities and environmental consultants who service the rapidly growing market in brownfield development, including land remediation.

Featuring as part of Sustainabilitylive!, three other events will run alongside BEX: International Water and Effluent Exhibition (IWEX), Environmental Technology and Environmental Services (ET&ES) and National Energy Management Exhibition (NEMEX), creating the perfect platform to transfer best practice across sectors.

Sustainabilitylive! 2008 will feature over 400 exhibitors, an extensive conference programme with high profile speakers, master classes and seminars with excellent networking opportunities over the three days.

With leading experts in the environment, energy, water and land sectors attending, the event creates the ideal location for industry knowledge, inspiration and discussion.

Donna Bushell, event director, said: “Sustainabilitylive! 2008 encompasses events dedicated to sustainable development and resource efficiency for both the public and private sectors – providing a solution for those with environmental management responsibility.”

“We have over 100 hours of free seminar content for visitors,” Donna Bushell added.

“Which offers a great deal of CPD points and technical content to keep everyone up-to-date with industry developments across land, energy, water and environment.

“Visitors are able to maximise their time out of the office, while exhibitors are provided with the optimum platform to showcase products and services and meet new and existing customers and clients.”
