Sewer much easier CCTV

Inspecting sewers, drains and water mains will be easier with the aid of the vCam View / Digital system, a new CCTV inspection camera package from SebaKMT UK. The system provides video images from inside sewers, drains, pipes, ducts, metallic or non-metallic pipes, conduits and even chimneys and is designed to be easy and simple to use.

The vCam CCTV pushrod inspection cameras offer the choice of two control modules – the vCamView for viewing only, and the vCamDigital for viewing and recording. The vCam Digital includes an internal MPEG4 recording/playback device and software for recording the images seen, adding data, text and audio.
Because its design has been heavily influenced by customer feedback and the results from extensive field trials, setting up and operation of the vCam View/Digital system is very easy. The control module can be placed on the ground and the handle can be rotated to set a comfortable viewing angle. Alternatively the control module can be mounted to the reel (cart type “C”) using the two brackets on the handle. After the set up, the operator switches on, checks that the display is set to “Camera” mode and then confirms the correct settings are displayed on the front panel – i.e. video system, sonde frequency, sonde on/off, microphone on/off.
Pressing the reset counter and partially releasing the brake on the vCam reel allows the cable to be pulled off the reel. Then, push the camera a short distance inside the pipe and use the dimmer device on the control module to adjust the lights and the inspection can begin.
Three reel options are offered The Cart (Type-C – 30m or 60m pushrod cable, which is the standard reel; The Mini (Type-M – 30m pushrod cable) for those requiring a small reel; and a large reel (Type-P – 120m pushrod cable). The pushrod cable comes in two sizes 10mm for use in small diameter pipes, and the 12 mm diameter for larger pipes, and/or longer distances. Standard and self leveling cameras are available for each cable size.
Vivax, a sister company of SebaKMT, will be distributing the vCam View / Digital system throughout the UK targeting the water industry, contractors, plumbers and drain specialists.
Mike Napper, managing director of SebaKMT UK, said: “The Vivax vCam system makes inspection of drains and sewers an easy process.
“With functions such as the integrated MP4 recorder and it has its own 60GB hard drive with Windows-style data management it adds a new dimension to inspection products available.”
